Last edit made seconds ago is a moving image work made in collaboration with artist Ben Callaghan.

The work interrogates the ways in which we interact with digital workspaces and content production technologies, seeking to critique the functionality and design of their user interfaces.

Drawing from a range of digital mannerisms and design strategies, the work looks at how these can act as frameworks for encoding productive or profitable behaviours in their subjects.

Referencing stock images and algorithmic search as an interface for the discovery of 'default' representations, the work investigates the artifice of neutrality in heavily constructed image fields. Who is the default prototype of the ‘worker’ as declared by the algorithm of a google image search, and who benefits from this representation?
